MSCS Director, Joseph Caruso and his wife Carolyn, represented Mine Site Construction Services at the ‘Another Bloody Breakfast’ event on Monday, 30th November 2015 at the University Club of Western Australia. Hosted by true professional, Jeff Newman with special guest Matt Fuller (who’s motto is “no pain, no gain”) – a great contributor to our Community and the Perth Blood Institute. Dr. Carnley spoke about stem cell and tissue therapies. Dr. Carnley has an active role in research and is a co-investigator on various ongoing clinical trials at PBI. In addition, guest speaker David Sneddon spoke about his journey with venous thromboembolism (VTE) and about being a patient and friend of The Perth Blood Institute. This important event acknowledged the Caruso family for their contribution in the establishment of the ‘Caruso Family Post-Doctoral Fellowship’ for 2016. This postgraduate research has been established through Murdoch University, where the WA Centre for Thrombosis and Haemostasis (WACTH) research laboratory is located. The recipients of the fellowship are Dr. Jasmine Tay and Dr. Quintin Hughes who recently co-authored a paper to show how microRNA is important in Protein S regulation.
